Compliance Archival

ArchiveReady uses continuous application shadowing (VSS) and log replication to continuously capture Exchange and Sharepoint content and metadata. For Exchange, this includes all email, folders, deletions, calendars, contacts, notes, and tasks. For Sharepoint, this includes individual Sharepoint items as well as content, configuration and search databases. The service provides full text indexing on email subject line, message body, and attachments as well as Sharepoint content, allowing customers to use powerful search and retrieval tools to find the archived email or content quickly and efficiently when needed.

Once all captured data is indexed, it is stored using global single instancing storage technology on the local ArchiveReady appliance. This data is regularly replicated off-site to the Global Storage Archive Vault hosted in our secure data centres for the long term archival and protection of your business information.

Storage Management

ArchiveReady helps to manage and optimise primary Exchange storage and mailbox sizes. Configured archival policies migrate email stored in Exchange user mailboxes and offline PST files, off the primary storage systems, improving overall email performance and storage utilisation. Once moved from the primary email system a stub file or link to the archived email item is still retained in the user mailbox giving the appearance that the item is still there. If a user clicks on the stub link, ArchiveReady retrieves the relative email from the local archival storage for immediate use.

ArchiveReady also provides significant File and Sharepoint storage optimisation by moving files off high-end production storage. Archival policies migrate aged or unwanted data and metadata from File Servers and Sharepoint systems by attribute types such as type, size or age. The archival policies can be set to either move and delete the original content or move and leave a small stub file in its place. Leaving a small stub file allows users to recall the data by simply clicking on the stubbed item within the File folder or Sharepoint web portal as if it were a normal document.

Recovery & Disaster Recovery

With the comprehensive capture and archiving capabilities also comes the ability to provide robust Exchange & Sharepoint recovery functionality. ArchiveReady protects against data loss and allows local recovery of individual messages, mailboxes, and Exchange information stores as well as providing disaster recovery of the customers Exchange server to a standby Exchange Server or to the Global Storage Recovery Centre. ArchiveReady also provides both fine grain and course grain recovery of Sharepoint content with the ability to recovery individual items, content databases, configuration databases and the search database and search index files.
